Class of ’64 Mini-Reunion
The Class of ’64 held its 5th annual mini-reunion at the Country Inn and Suites in Gettysburg, Thursday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27, 2015. Once again, Kathie Kennedy Incaprera set up the arrangements and along with Mary Rocks ’64 and Kathie’s husband, Joe, scouted out some possible activities for the weekend. Some arrived Thursday evening in order to be at the campus at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning for a tour by Merril Sollenberger, Dept. of Homeland Security. After lunch in the campus cafeteria, more classmates arrived to join the group to met with Dee Gallo, Provincial Archivist for the Daughters of Charity for a tour of the archives.
Just days earlier, President Obama had presented to Pope Francis a key to Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton’s White House. We were eager to hear the “behind the scenes” story of how that came about and Dee was happy to share it. She also arranged for us to see a film about the service of the Daughters during WW I in the field hospitals in Europe. Then it was back to our hotel for snacks, wine, lots of conversation and, later, pizza for dinner. Saturday featured a tour of the Adams County Winery, mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Emmitsburg, and dinner at the Carriage House. After breakfast on Sunday, folks starting their treks homeward but looking forward to “the next time”.
Those attending included Carole Sokolik Bourbonnais, Pat Higgins Brennan, Mimi Ratke Cochran, Peggy Tofani Corrado, Kathy Smith Donovan, Lee Ann Clement Frankel, Chrystie Damico Goles, Mary Lou Ullrich Jones, Anne McAllister LaBoon, Claire Maurer, Betty Meagher McManmon, Marian Weld Oviedo, Karen Perry Palmieri, Anne Fron Panko, Ellen Gregorec Potter, Mary Rocks, Bobbie Davis Speace, Renee Peters Stalter, Eileen Hickam Stanford, Barbara Welsh, Margaret Weld Whelan, and Beverly Jones Wyatt.
