Remembrance Candles at SJC Reunion Mass

MARY A. STARR died May 21, 2013. She was the oldest of three daughters of Dorothy Collins and Leon A. Starr of Cortland, NY. She is survived by her sister, Elinor Starr of Louisville SJC’53 and several cousins from Cortland.

An honor graduate of Saint Joseph College in Emmitsburg, MD, with degrees in English and history, she then completed her Master of Science in library science at Simmons College in Boston, MA.

Later, she joined her mother and sisters who had moved to Louisville. Mary served a number of years and then retired as the librarian at Louisville Collegiate School. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Louisville.

Mary enjoyed travel, especially by ship. She was a volunteer at the Howard Steamboat Museum in Jeffersonville, IN, where she served on the board of directors for several years. She co-authored several monographs on the Howard family, founders of Jeffboat, whose home had been the Museum.
